2024 was a year of trials, growth, and gratitude. My third year in America brought challenges I hadn’t anticipated, with injuries limiting my ability to compete and perform at my best. Despite these setbacks, it was a year filled with valuable lessons and moments of resilience.
Homesickness for my parents, family, and the comforts of home remains a constant presence, but I’ve worked hard to ensure these feelings don’t interfere with my goals. Still, I believe my results this year could have been better.
For the first time since 2017, I experienced two losses in a single year, even with limited competition (after maintaining a six-year undefeated streak in my category). The first loss was at the Nationals, where I was injury-free but disappointed in my performance. The second was in the finals of the Fort Lauderdale Open against Gabriel Moraes, a two-time adult world champion and the current world champion in my category. Despite the defeat, it was one of my best performances and reinforced my belief that I can compete at the top of the division.
Looking ahead, 2025 promises to be both challenging and special. It will be challenging as I aim to score points in Grand Slam events again and special as I prepare to face competitors I deeply admire and respect. My goal is to remain among the top 3 in my category and push myself to new heights.
I want to take this moment to thank everyone who has supported me throughout this journey. To my teammates at Gracie Barra Great Falls, my friends, and my family, your encouragement means the world to me.
Wishing everyone a happy and prosperous 2025! Let’s keep striving for greatness together.
